A dilemma when no vegetarian option is served

Recently a vegetarian friend was discussing how she went to a holiday dinner at a relatives house who knew she was vegetarian, and the relative did not get it right. She said ham and turkey were served as well as potatoes and carrots mixed in with the meat juices.

I did not question her, but she seemed to be disappointed that a vegetarian option was not offered. (She was not complaining about the fact that meat was served.) There were a number of other guests at the meal.

So is it the responsibility of the guest to bring their own meal or was she right to feel left out?

Your thoughts?

  1. I would have felt left out, for sure, and hurt especially because they new that she is vegetarian...
